In our latest Michigan Wolverines news roundup, Michigan basketball will host a five-star recruit, while Michigan football has offered a new transfer, plus more.

A new name has popped up on the radar of Michigan basketball for the 2023 season and that’s 2024 five-star big man Flory Bidunga.

The 6-foot-10 center is one of the elite prospects in the 2024 class and is being pursued by the Michigan Wolverines, as well as Kentucky, Auburn, and Michigan State among others. Those were the four teams Bidunga mentioned on Tuesday in an interview with Joe Tipton of On3.com.

Bidunga said positive things about all four programs. However, he’s also scheduled an official visit to Michigan basketball at the end of the month.

There’s a chance he could re-classify too and you wonder if the Michigan Wolverines could add the No. 1 center and the No. 3 overall prospect according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

It would certainly fill the need for more frontcourt depth heading into next season. Bidunga is an athletic freak and does a lot of really good things around the basket. His jumper is a work in progress, but Juwan Howard has had tons of success developing bigs over the years.

That has to be a selling point for Michigan basketball to Bidunga, along with all the NBA Draft picks since Howard has taken over as the head coach. It would be a nice addition and at this point, on Wednesday morning, there still is no word from Hunter Dickinson.

Michigan Wolverines offer transfer cornerback

All offseason there has been talk that Michigan football would like to add a veteran cornerback via the transfer portal. There were some attempts when the first transfer window was open, but nothing came to fruition.

Well, Michigan football is jumping back into the mix after offering Trey Amos, a cornerback in the portal that played for Louisiana last season.

Amos has played a lot in the past two seasons for the Rajun Cajuns and was credited with 13 pass breakups during that time, as well as one interception and 59 tackles. He’s 6-foot-1, 182 pounds and the former two-year starter would be a solid addition.

Of course, Michigan football is among 13 power five programs to offer already and the list will continue to grow, but the Michigan Wolverines can also offer a legitimate shot at a national title and a potential starting role, so we’ll see.

Another crystal ball for Michigan Wolverines

In other recruiting news, Michigan football has picked up a new crystal ball in the 2024 class for three-star linebacker Cole Sullivan from Pennslyvania. He’s 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, and ranked as the No. 590 overall prospect in the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Notre Dame, Duke, Wisconsin, Stanford, and Michigan football are the five teams listed as “warm” via his 247 Sports profile and they made his top five that was released last week.

Steve Wiltfong of 247 Sports has gone ahead and put in a crystal ball projection for Sullivan to land with Michigan football. The linebacker isn’t ranked as high as some others that the Michigan Wolverines are after, but he was productive with 119 tackles and two sacks as a junior.

Beating out Notre Dame for a recruit is always nice and with his obvious academic interest, Michigan football seems like the perfect place for the talented linebacker.
