In our latest Michigan Wolverines news roundup, we touch on Michigan football recruiting, Steph Curry pulls a C-Webb, and more.

In terms of Michigan football recruiting, it wasn’t a huge weekend of news, however, the Michigan Wolverines did get some positive news as they cracked the final top five of top-100 defensive back, Zaquan Patterson of the 2024 class.

Patterson is 6-foot, 185 pounds, and is ranked 73rd overall in the 2024 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s ranked 12th in the state of Florida and is also third among safeties.

Michigan football made the top five for Patterson along with Ohio State, Miami, Auburn, and Florida State. He’s a South Florida kid so it will be interesting to see where he goes. The next step for the Michigan Wolverines is getting him back on campus for an official visit.

According to his On3 profile, Patterson has visited Miami, Ohio State, and LSU this spring. He didn’t put the Tigers in his top five though. He’s also visited Michigan football previously.

Now that Jadyn Davis is in the fold, Michigan football can look to the 2025 class in terms of quarterbacks and Kirk Campbell was on the road to watch Ohio four-star quarterback Ryan Montgomery this week.

Zach Libby of The Wolverine reported that Campbell and the top-100 signal caller are becoming close after weekly phone calls.

Bryce Underwood has to be at the top of the board for the 2025 class since he’s No. 1 overall, but Montgomery is a viable option too and the Michigan Wolverines seem to be in a pretty good spot.

Steph Curry pulls a C-Webb

Every time someone takes a timeout when they shouldn’t, it reminds folks of former Michigan Wolverines star Chris Webber, who infamously took a timeout when he didn’t have one against North Carolina in the 1993 national championship game.

Steph Curry did the same thing on Sunday in the NBA playoffs for the Warriors against the Kings. Thankfully, Golden State was up by five and it didn’t cost them, although Harrison Barnes had a game-winning shot miss just at the buzzer which would have put the Warriors down 3-1.

Jordan Poole, a former Michigan basketball standout, also did his part to even the series at 2-2 after scoring 22 points in 26 minutes. He was 8-of-15 from the field and 2-of-6 from 3-point range.

Game five will be on Wednesday. Another former Michigan Wolverines standout will be in action on Monday night as Duncan Robinson and the eighth-seeded Miami Heat will try to take a 3-1 series lead on the Milwaukee Bucks, the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Robinson was 5-for-6 from 3-point range in the win on Saturday and became third all-time in Miami Heat history in terms of postseason 3-pointers made.
