10 biggest Michigan football NFL Draft busts of all time
5. Michael Taylor (20th overall in 1972 by the Jets)
One of the few defensive players on this list for Michigan football is former Wolverine Michael Taylor.
Taylor played during the years of the Bo Schembechler era and had 133 tackles in three seasons playing for Michigan football. He was also named an All-American in 1971.
In the 1972 NFL draft, Taylor wound up getting selected 20th overall by the New York Jets. However, he played just two seasons and started only eight games in his career with one interception.
Like some others on this list, his career ended in a strange way. Taylor departed the NFL after playing just eight games in his second season and signed a contract to play in the World Football League the next season, which is probably comparable to the XFL or the USFL today.
