10 biggest Michigan football NFL Draft busts of all time
6. Tim Biakabutuka (8th overall in 1996 by Panthers)
Another running back that was drafted in the first round, Tim Biakabutuka, secured his legacy among Michigan football fans during the 1995 Ohio State game.
Biakabutuka became the full-time starter in 1995 after Wheatley left for the NFL and he broke the Wolverines record for single-season rushing yards at the time. However, he’ll be remembered most for the 313-yard performance on 37 carries against undefeated Ohio State.
Biakabutuka didn’t have a terrible career but he also didn’t live up to the hype of being the No. 8 overall pick.
The former Michigan football star averaged 4.1 yards per attempt during his career but rushed for just 2,530 yards. He also managed 14-career touchdowns and never gained more than 718 yards on the ground.
Biakabutuka and Wheatley are very similar to me. Both are Michigan football legends and had average NFL careers, which because of their draft status, makes them busts in my book, as much as it pains me to say it.
