Michigan Basketball in a good spot with Olivier Nkamhoua, more on Hunter Dickinson
Michigan basketball seems to be in a really good spot with Olivier Nkamhoua, plus the latest news on Hunter Dickinson.
Things continue to develop for Michigan basketball and the transfer portal and it seems like the Wolverines are very close to making another addition.
Olivier Nkamhoua has been on the Wolverines’ radar for the past few days and according to Chris Balas of The Wolverine, Michigan basketball is in a really good spot.
The Wolverines held a Zoom meeting with Nkamhoua earlier this week. Here’s a breakdown from former Michigan basketball player Ant Wright.
The 6-foot-9 power forward would be a great fit for Michigan basketball. He would be the upgrade the coaching staff has been looking for at the four. He could also add a low-post scorer and is a guy that can knock down 3-pointers.
Nkamhoua would be a great option to run ball screens with. Dug McDaniel and Caleb Love are both guys that can create shots and Nkamhoua can knock them down. He averaged just under 11 points per game last season and Davis Moseley of The Michigan Insider commented on the video from Ant Wright saying he thinks, “It’s Michigan or the pro route.”
That sounds like a good sign for Michigan basketball and my hope is that a commitment comes sometime this weekend.
I really like the idea of a starting lineup of Nkamhoua, McDaniel, Nimari Burnett, Caleb Love, and Tarris Reed with Tray Jackson, Jaelin Llewellyn, George Washington III, Jace Howard, Terrance Williams, and Will Tschetter potentially available off the bench.
I think that’s an NCAA tournament team. So hopefully, the Wolverines are able to close things with Nkamhoua who is On3.com’s top-ranked power forward available in the portal.
More on Hunter Dickinson
You might be getting sick of Hunter Dickinson updates and I don’t blame you. Yet, there is some news to pass along. Dickinson will take an official visit to Kansas next week — not just an unofficial visit — and the On3 prediction machine has the Jayhawks as the favorite.
I don’t think Michigan is out of it. Georgetown and Maryland will host him for unofficial visits this weekend and then the trip to Kansas, which is also trending for Harrison Ingram.
The Jayhawks have a lot to sell and it wouldn’t surprise me if it was the destination. I want Dickinson back at Michigan, but as long as he leaves the Big Ten, I’m not going to worry that much about where he ends up.
However, Kansas would make sense on the NIL front and also in the sense that he would be playing for a bona-fide national title contender.
