In our latest Michigan Wovlerines roundup, we cover Michigan basketball and the transfer portal, Hunter Dickinson, and more.

Juwan Howard and the Michigan basketball program have their hands full right now trying to manage the transfer portal, as well as the recruitment of Hunter Dickinson.

On Wednesday, fans of the Michigan Wolverines got some news on both fronts. Former five-star Michigan basketball target, Matthew Cleveland, announced he was entering the transfer portal on Tuesday night, and on Wednesday, he had been contacted by U-M.

Michigan basketball was expected to hold a Zoom meeting with Cleveland, which might have even happened already. The 6-foot-7 forward averaged more than 13 points per game last season for Florida State but also grabbed over seven rebounds and shot 35 percent from 3-point range.

The Michigan Wolverines are also still firmly in the mix for the top power forward available in the transfer portal according to On3.com and that’s former Tennessee standout Olivier Nkamhoua.

Nkamhoua was a two-year starter for the Vols and averaged just under 11 points per game this past season. He’s an outstanding defender too and even without the return of Hunter Dickinson if Michigan basketball landed Cleveland and Nkamhoua, it would be beyond impressive.

Where do the Michigan Wolverines stand with Hunter Dickinson?

There are still a lot of moving parts when it comes to Hunter Dickinson. He’s going to visit Georgetown and Maryland this weekend. We know that for sure. There were also reports that he would meet with Michigan basketball next week before making a final decision.

Kentucky and Kansas were also in the mix. Kansas seems like a great landing spot for Dickinson if winning and NIL are the top priorities. He’s got ties to Georgetown and Maryland and both programs are close to home for the DMV product.

Dickinson is also close with Juwan, so we’ll see what happens, but the Michigan Wolverines are another addition or two in the transfer portal from having a really good roster constructed for the 2023-24 season, with or without the former All-American.
