Things are getting interesting with Hunter Dickinson and Michigan basketball is expected to get a final chance to talk to him before he decides.

It’s hard to predict what former and maybe future Michigan basketball player Hunter Dickinson is going to do.

Dickinson isn’t quite a former Michigan basketball player yet. Even though he did enter his name into the transfer portal, he’s got the option to return and it’s still possible.

Not long ago, I thought Kansas might have been the team to beat with Dickinson and it’s possible the Jayhawks are still in the mix.

Both Kansas and Kentucky held Zoom meetings with Dickinson according to Chris Balas of The Wolverine and he’s also going to take unofficial visits to Georgetown and Miami this weekend.

Dickinson talked about his decision on the “Roundball Podcast” and said that he planned to take a trip home this weekend so he decided to visit Maryland and Georgetown.

"“I wanted to go home anyways just to be home for a weekend … I might as well go and take the unofficials while I’m going to be home anyways,” Dickinson said. “That’s how that happened.”"

Dickinson’s former high school coach is now an assistant for Maryland and he praised new Georgetown head coach Ed Cooley during his podcast. Despite all of this, there was a rumor going around on Twitter that Michigan basketball will get the final meeting with Dickinson before a decision.

It sounds like this weekend will be important. Georgetown and Maryland always seemed like options if playing close to home was important. Kansas and Kentucky have the pedigree and the NIL strength, while Michigan has been rebuilding its roster in the transfer portal.

Michigan basketball is after another former five-star in Matthew Cleveland. He averaged over 13 points a game for Florida State and is a guy that could be a first-round pick with another good year.

It would be easy for Juwan Howard to point to Franz Wagner, Caleb Houstan, Moussa Diabte, Isaiah Livers, Jett Howard, and Kobe Bufkin as selling points. Michigan has been a factor for NBA prospects and Cleveland could be the next one along with Caleb Love.

Nimari Burnett and Love certainly bought into that idea and if the Wolverines can add Cleveland too, who knows, Dickinson might be enticed to return with a solid NIL deal.
