The Michigan basketball team saw more roster movement on Monday, Leigha Brown was drafted into the WNBA, and more in our Michigan Wolverines roundup.

We have been expecting more roster changes for the Michigan basketball team — whether that be additions or subtractions — and we got one on Monday.

Joey Baker, the former Duke transfer, will play just one season for Michigan basketball. Baker was going to seek a waiver for another season with the Michigan Wolverines. It’s not clear if that was denied or Baker changed his mind, but he’s hired an agent and will go pro.

Baker shot 39 percent last season from 3-point range and averaged just over five points a game in his one season with the Michigan Wolverines. He did make 43 triples overall and if he doesn’t wind up in the NBA, he’ll definitely be able to play overseas. A shooter is a shooter.

Is another transfer on the way for Michigan basketball?

The Michigan Wolverines are still doing work in the transfer portal and another name to know is that of former Tennessee forward Oliver Nkamhoua.

Nkamhoua is an interesting guy that has started the past two seasons for Tennessee and averaged about 25 minutes per game. He shoots 33 percent from 3-point range and has made 31 treys over the past two seasons.

He’s 6-foot-9 and could add another starting-caliber four for Michigan basketball. He rebounds the ball pretty well, is an active defender, and would be a tremendous addition.

The Michigan Wolverines held a Zoom meeting with him on Monday night and this is definitely a player I could see being added soon.

Stay tuned.

Michigan Wolverines’ star Leigha Brown picked in WNBA draft

For the second year in a row, a Michigan Wolverines player was selected in the WNBA draft. Point guard Leigha Brown joined Naz Hillmon in becoming the highest women’s player for Michigan basketball selected at 15th overall.

Brown was also selected by the same exact team — the Atlanta Dream.

Brown was an All-Big selection this past season for the Wolverines and led Michigan back to the NCAA tournament. She averaged 17.5 points per game this past season, as well as 5.1 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1.3 steals.

The former Nebraska transfer shot 29 percent from 3-point range last season but 77 percent from the free-throw line. For her career, Brown shot 32.8 percent from beyond the arc.

The Michigan Wolverines fell short of reaching the Sweet 16 for a third straight season but it’s going to be awesome to see Brown and Hillmon reunited again and playing for Atlanta.
