Michigan Football: Amorion Walker talks about tampering from other teams
We all know that the transfer portal has changed college football and Michigan football athlete Amorion Walker talks about being tampered with.
Recruiting is a cutthroat business in college football and now, it’s not just about recruiting high school players — you have to recruit your own roster too — constantly.
One Michigan football player that the Wolverines needed to re-recruit this offseason is former three-star wideout Amorion Walker.
Walker has been a breakout player this spring for Michigan football. The 6-foot-4 athlete has turned his attention more to the defensive side of the ball. He’s also still going to play some wide receiver for the Wolverines but after playing in just six games last season, the athletic freak is in line to start this season.
So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that some teams were coming after him and trying to get him to transfer. Here is what Walker said via 247 sports:
"“Toward the end of the season, I did have a lot of people chirping at me. Of course, places like back at home, like LSU or some of the down-south schools. I really didn’t give it as much attention as maybe I wanted to. I heard it, but I really let my dad talk to them. I didn’t really talk to them a lot. I was really focused on, no matter if I go somewhere or if I stay here, I need to be where I need to be. So that’s what I was mostly focused on.”"
Walker always felt that Michigan football was the right place for him and he said a meeting with Jim Harbaugh late in the season reinforced that point.
"“I had a big meeting with Coach Harbaugh to kind of set the foundation of where we think things are going to go,” Walker said to 247 sports. “That went well. … Ain’t no better place to do it than here.”"
The quotes from Walker at least give a look into what it’s like to be a big-time college football player. Opposing teams are constantly trying to poach others players and it’s a good thing for Michigan football that it didn’t work with Walker because the kid is going to be a star.
