Jaemyn Brakefield

Brakefield is a name that Michigan basketball fans should remember. The Wolverines were one of the top schools in his recruitment before he went to Duke and then transferred to Ole Miss.

I’m not sure what his status is going to be in terms of being able to play next season after going back in the portal. But he had a really good season for Ole Miss, averaging 11.1 points per game, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.

Brakefield is 6-foot-8 and is a four-star transfer after being ranked 33rd overall coming out of high school. He can play either forward position and has really efficient numbers offensively.

Last season with the Rebels, he made 53.7 percent of his shots overall. He was even better making 65.8 of his 2-pointers and from 3-point range he was very serviceable 35.1 percent. He’s another guy that could play with Dickinson or without him.

The Wolverines need a dependable scorer at the four, as well as a forward with some versatility. Brakefield brings that and while landing him will be very tough, Michigan basketball should certainly try.
