Michigan football recruit Jadyn Davis is set to make a decision, Jett Howard has declared for the NBA draft, and more in our Michigan Wolverines roundup.

Thursday was a big news day for the Michigan Wolverines and their fans and it started with the news that Michigan basketball standout Jett Howard was going to leave the Wolverines for the NBA draft.

Howard is expected to be a first-round pick and has even been projected as a lottery selection at times in the 2023 NBA draft.

Michigan basketball fans have been wondering what the offseason will look like after an 18-16 campaign that saw the Michigan Wolverines miss out on the NCAA tournament for the first time since the 2014-15 season.

There was hope that Hunter Dickinson, Kobe Bufkin, and Jett Howard might return next season for the Michigan basketball program. Howard seems more ready to be an NBA player and needs time to develop.

That development could have happened in Ann Arbor, but now the attention for the Michigan Wolverines shifts to Hunter Dickinson and Kobe Bufkin.

Both have the potential to be first-team All-Big Ten selections next season and with them in the fold, Michigan basketball can do plenty of winning next season.

Michigan football 5-star QB target set to decide

it seems like we have been waiting months for Michigan football recruit Jadyn Davis to make a decision. The 5-star quarterback ranked 28th overall in the 2024 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings, has now locked in a March 31 decision date according to reports.

For Michigan football, this is massive, especially since Davis is coming off another visit to the program and spent quality time with new QBs coach Kirk Campbell for the first time.

More crystal ball projections came out of last weekend’s visit and the confidence of other crystal balls has increased. Basically, every recruiting expert has Davis going to Michigan football and since his next step is an announcement, not a visit to another program, it seems clear that Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines are about to land a five-star QB — the first since J.J McCarthy.

Michigan Wolverines open NCAA hockey tournament

It’s also a big day for the Michigan hockey team as the Wolverines will open up play in the NCAA tournament. Michigan won the Big Ten championship last week, thanks to a victory over No. 1 ranked Minnesota.

The Michigan Wolverines are looking for their second straight trip to the Frozen Four and frankly, it’s national championship or bust.

Michigan hockey will be playing in Allentown, Pennsylvania, which is hosting the regional and the Wolverines will take on Colgate, the No. 4 seed in the bracket tonight at 8:30 PM EST on ESPN2.

The Wolverines would then face the winner of Penn State and Michigan Tech on Sunday to clinch another berth in the Frozen Four.

Colgate earned a berth into the tournament by winning the ECAC tournament for the first time in 30 years. It’s also their first NCAA hockey tournament berth since 2014.
