Michigan Football lands elite 2024 running back from Ohio
Michigan football’s big visit weekend is already paying off in terms of a commitment as the Wolverines landed 2024 running back Jordan Marshall on Tuesday.
The Michigan football program has been trending up on the recruiting trail recently and on Tuesday, the Wolverines got a tangible sign that things are headed in the right direction.
Jordan Marshall, one of the top recruits in the state of Ohio, and one of the elite running backs in the entire 2024 recruiting class committed to Michigan football on Tuesday after another visit to the Wolverines over the weekend.
The 5-foot-10, 193-pound running back out of Cincinnati, is ranked 91st overall in the 2024 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings. He’s also the third-ranked player in the state of Ohio, and the seventh-ranked running back overall.
Marshall is also a running back that Ohio State was also recruiting. Michigan football has started to win more recruitments in the state of Ohio in recent years, but this is by far the biggest, and here are some thoughts on Jordan Marshall’s commitment.
Reacting to Jordan Marshall’s commitment to Michigan football
- This is a massive, massive get for Michigan football. Since the Wolverines have started on this run that has included a 25-3 record and back-to-back Big Ten championships, this is by far the biggest commitment and hopefully, it’s the first of many big-time pledges.
- Michigan football fans have been critical of Mike Hart and his ability to recruit. Well, this should silence any doubts about that. I haven’t been worried about it. I like what I’ve seen from CJ Stokes and Hart did a good job of landing Cole Cabana, one of the top players in the state of Michigan in the 2023 class. Still, this is a big recruiting win for Mike Hart.
- When Michigan football has been at its best, it has been able to attract players from Ohio. Rod Moore has been part of the push for the past two years, but he’s not a Charles Woodson or a Desmond Howard. I’m not saying Marshall is either. But he’s a dude with an NFL future and could really help rebuild that Ohio pipeline.
- Obviously, Michigan’s style of play worked in its favor here. The Buckeyes like to run the ball, but not in the way that Michigan football does under Jim Harbaugh. Regardless, this is the first top-100 commitment in 2024 and it can’t be overstated how important it is.
