Michigan Wolverines news: Isaiah Barnes enters transfer portal, recruiting buzz, and more
In our latest Michigan Wolverines news roundup, Isaiah Barnes has entered the transfer portal, a good weekend for Michigan football recruiting, and more.
It was a rough weekend for the Michigan basketball team. The Wolverines blew an eight-point lead with just over a minute to go on Saturday against Vanderbilt in a season-ending loss.
Kobe Bufkin and Jett Howard both sat out of the game due to injuries. Yet, the Michigan Wolverines were in a position to win until it all fell apart.
On Sunday, the narrative shifted to the offseason for Michigan basketball and the Wolverines got their first transfer portal departure as Isaiah Barnes, a three-star wing from the 2021 recruiting class, announced that he has entered the transfer portal.
It’s not a big surprise. Barnes played little in two years with the Michigan Wolverines. I was expecting him to transfer last offseason but when he didn’t play Saturday with limited depth, the writing was probably on the wall.
A positive weekend for Michigan football recruiting
Michigan football fans are focused on the recruitment of five-star quarterback Jadyn Davis and while it seems like the Wolverines improved their standing with Davis, we know they did with a couple of top targets in 2024 on the offensive line.
Blake Frazier is a Michigan football legacy and a four-star offensive lineman from Texas in the 2024 class. He’s now trending with crystal ball projections to the Wolverines after his visit over the weekend.
So is Ohio three-star offensive lineman Ben Roebuck. He was actually trending to Michigan football already, but another crystal ball has come in for the Wolverines, who now look like the heavy favorite to land him.
We’ll have more on what the weekend meant for the Michigan Wolverines and their pursuit of Jadyn Davis, but so far, so good.
