Michigan Football trending for 2024 WR Mekhai White
Michigan football is trending with crystal balls for another 2024 target and that’s three-star wide receiver Mekhai White.
Michigan football has recently hosted a number of recruits in the 2024 and 2025 recruiting classes. One of those recruits was 2024 wide receiver Mekhai White, who visited Tuesday.
White is out of the state of Virginia and while he didn’t have an offer before he took his visit to see the Michigan football program, the Wolverines offered while he was there.
White is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound wideout out of King George and he’s the 7th-ranked player in the state of Virginia according to the 247 sports composite rankings, as well as the 494th overall prospect in the 2024 class.
Despite being a three-star, Michigan football isn’t the only big-name program involved in this recruitment. Just look at some of the recent offers: Texas A&M, LSU, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, and Nebraska and those have all come since late December. Even Georgia is listed as one of the teams as “warm” in the recruitment via 247 sports.
However, White’s visit to Ann Arbor seemed to be a game-changer. The dual-sport athlete who also plays basketball was a highly productive player in 2022 with 39 receptions for 1,039 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Fredrick Moore was a three-star wideout in the 2023 class and he’s a guy that’s already turning heads. White reminds me of him due to his production and his ranking.
Two crystal ball projections for White to Michigan football
According to what White told Steve Wiltfong of 247 sports, Michigan “blew away” White on his recent visit. That visit also included an offer as we said.
The 247 sports profile of White indicates that a commitment announcement is coming in May, which feels like a positive thing for the Wolverines since it’s just two months away.
The 2024 wideout also told Wiltfong that Michigan is “the team to beat.” So it sounds like things are trending in the right direction.
Wiltfong has yet to put in a crystal ball projection. Brandon Drumm and Greg Biggins were the first to do so. Drumm covers Oklahoma while Biggins covers the East Coast.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Wiltfong followed after the interview he published because it seems like, at the very least, the Wolverines are the heavy favorite.
