Keeping the point guard in check

The other key battle on Sunday will take place between freshman point guards Jalen Hood-Schifino of Indiana and Dug McDaniel of Michigan.

Hood-Schifino is 6-foot-6, scoring 13.4 points per game and averaging 3.8 assists. The freshman and Jackson-Davis are stellar in the two-man pick-and-roll game.

One issue for Michigan is the size advantage due to McDaniel being just 5-foot-11. However, his defense has ramped up and that’s true for the entire Wolverines squad over the past month.

In terms of overall efficiency, Michigan has been a better team over the last month. But the ball-screen defense has been an issue constantly with Hunter Dickinson in the lineup and Hood-Schifino is stellar in the mid-range. He’s a solid 3-point shooter too.

Jackson-Davis scoring 20 points or so is one thing. That’s expected to happen. That’s his scoring average but Hood-Schifino can’t score 20 too (21 in the first game) or it’s tough to see Michigan winning.
