Michigan Wolverines news: A Big Ten track title, another point for hockey and more
The Michigan Wolverines are celebrating a women’s track and field title in the Big Ten, plus more in our latest news roundup.
One thing we have learned over the past few years is that the Michigan Wolverines win championships in just about everything and this weekend, they won the women’s Big Ten Indoor Track and Field championship.
It was the first time since 2016 that the Michigan Wolverines have captured the Big Ten’s indoor crown in women’s track and field and U-M did it with 109 points.

Ziyah Holman set a school record in the 400-meter dash with a 51.39 to take home the Big Ten title. She was also part of a record-setting 1,600 relay team that also took first with a time of 3:30.63, which was three seconds faster than the previous school record.
Next up are the indoor track championships for the NCAA on March. 11.
Michigan Wolverines hockey gets a point against Notre Dame
For the second straight night, the Michigan Wolverines left the ice frustrated against Notre Dame following a 2-1 loss. The Irish tied Michigan and won in a shootout on Friday night.
Michigan got a single point for each night but the Wolverines have now gone four straight games without a win. However, Michigan had already locked up the No. 2 seed in the Big Ten tournament prior to the game, while Notre Dame is pushing for an at-large berth in the NCAA tournament.
Rutger McGroarty scored a goal for the Michigan Wolverines in the third period but despite outshooting Notre Dame 49-22, the Irish were able to find the back of the net in overtime to escape Ann Arbor with a 2-1 win.
Erik Portillo stopped 47 of the 49 shots he faced. Michigan hockey will host Wisconsin next weekend in a three-game series in the Big Ten Hockey quarterfinals.

The Wolverines were supposed to play baseball against Cal-State Fullerton on Friday and Saturday but the game Saturday night was postponed due to weather.
Michigan baseball, which is 2-2 on the season, will play two games on Sunday, starting at 1 PM PST. There will be another game on Monday as the four-game series will be turned into a three-game set between the Titans and Wolverines.
Also on the diamond, the softball team is now 7-7 after a 1-1 result on Saturday. Michigan knocked off Boise State 2-1, but also fell to Stanford 5-0.
