Hunter Dickinson needs to win inside

Rutgers isn’t great at defending post ups but the Scarlet Knights to have 6-foot-11 Clifford Omoruyi, who is a former top-50 recruit.

Omoruyi is the Scarlet Knights’ leading scorer averaging over 13 points per game and also 9.8 rebounds. Additionally, he averages 2.5 blocks per game.

However, that doesn’t make him a great post defender. Against Nebraska last week, Derrick Walker scored 18 points in 8-of-10 shooting and Omoruyi even blocked five shots.

I expect that Rutgers will bring some double teams to help with Dickinson, just like they did against Nebraska. The Huskers made them pay from beyond the arc. But Dickinson needs to have success first, otherwise, Rutgers can stay more one-on-one.

Dickinson and Tarris Reed also need a big effort on defense. If the Wolverines can make it tough inside for Omoruyi to score, it could really hinder a Rutgers offense that already struggles to score.
