Michigan Football: Chad Henne retires, multiple Wolverines win Super Bowl
Three former Michigan football players won a Super Bowl title and one of them, Chad Henne, has announced his retirement from the NFL.
The 13-year NFL career for former Michigan football quarterback Chad Henne has ended according to what the former Wolverine posted on Twitter following the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win over the Eagles on Sunday night.
Henne has served as Patrick Mahomes’ backup for the past four seasons and he’s already collected one Super Bowl ring. But after the 38-35 win over the Eagles, the former four-year starter for Michigan football will walk away with two Super Bowl rings.
Henne didn’t play much during his career with Kansas City and only started 54 games total. He posted an 18-36 record as a starter after getting drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the 2008 NFL draft. He also had 60 career touchdown passes compared to 63 interceptions.
After getting a couple of seasons as the regular starter for Miami, the Dolphins moved on and Henne spent a four years as a backup for the Jaguars before finishing his career in KC.
There have been rumblings about someone coming from the NFL to join the Michigan football coaching staff and while I wouldn’t think it would be Henne, you never know.

At any rate, his football career is over and he’ll walk away as a two-time Super Bowl champion. Frank Clark will be joining Henne with a second Super Bowl ring with the Chiefs.
Clark, another former Michigan football player, was part of the 2019 KC team that won the Super Bowl, yet Mike Danna, who joined the Chiefs in 2020, won his first Super Bowl on Sunday night.
Brandon Graham was the lone Michigan football player on the Eagles, but he at least has one ring already. We’ll see what Henne does next. But there’s a good chance he’s ready to relax, just like he celebrated his final football game with a beer.
