In our latest Michigan Wolverines news roundup, Michigan hockey beats Michigan State, Michigan football staff updates, and more.

There was a little dustup between the Michigan Wolverines and the Michigan State Spartans on the ice on Friday, but when it was all said and done, Michigan won as it usually does.

The Michigan Wolverines have won 15 of their last 17 games against the Spartans and notched a 4-2 win on Friday in East Lansing to give Michigan its sixth straight win.

Mackie Samoskevich opened the scoring for Michigan a few minutes into the first period. Adam Fantilli added another goal, as did Steven Holtz and it was 3-0 Wolverines.

The Spartans cut the lead to 3-2 eventually but Michigan added an insurance goal late with an empty net to secure the win, which was also aided greatly by Erik Portillo’s 30 saves.

Michigan football coaching staff update

Chris Balas of The Wolverine reported on Friday that Chris Partridge will indeed coach linebackers next season for Michigan football. That seems to indicate George Helow won’t return, which has been an open rumor for a week or so now.

No announcement has come but it’s pretty clear. Partridge has even reached out to some Michigan football recruits at linebacker such as top target Aaron Chiles.

However, it seems like Michigan football staff movement isn’t over. Balas reported another name will be joining the staff and it sounds like it’s one fans will know.

We’ll see but it will be good to have the Michigan football staff finalized with spring ball just around the corner for Jim Harbaugh and company.

The eighth-ranked Michigan wrestling team paid a visit to Iowa on Friday night and the second-ranked Hawkeyes dominated U-M by a score of 33-8.
