Michigan Basketball: 3 takeaways from a gratifying win over Ohio State
By Nick Popio
2. Michigan’s effort was permanent throughout
The maize and blue definitely came out with a lot of intensity in this one. They knew the Buckeyes would bring their A-game to Ann Arbor and had to outmatch them to win. Ohio State got down early but kept chipping away at the lead. However, Michigan was just too much in the latter 20 minutes and earn the victory.
To keep things in perspective, Michigan basketball led wire-to-wire and was never really in deep trouble. They kept their confidence brimming from the win in Evanston. This is the moment in the schedule where it eased up a bit and so far the Wolverines are taking advantage of it. A three-game home stretch doesn’t hurt either.
Joey Baker was the only scorer off the bench. He contributed two of the eight made three-pointers and is playing at a high level right now. Any kind of burst off the sidelines is exactly what this group needs. They are one of the worst units in the Big Ten when it comes to subbing for their starters.
