Michigan Football: Adam Schefter says Jim Harbaugh is ‘Out’ for Denver
Michigan football fans might not rest easy, but they can be reassured by the comments Adam Schefter made about Jim Harbaugh and the Broncos Monday.
Over the weekend, there were some new revelations reported about Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh’s meeting with the Denver Broncos.
This meeting, which was reported by Adam Schefter, was news to Michigan football fans as Harbaugh had already announced that he called Santa Ono and said he was coming back.
The good news is that there was no offer or deal that materialized. It seems that Harbaugh’s heart is at Michigan and that’s really where he wants to be. Otherwise, it seems like it would be easy for him to jump ship since Denver’s owner personally flew to Ann Arbor to court him.
At the same time, it seemed to leave the door open a little because the Broncos are still searching for a head coach. It made you wonder if there was more to the meeting or if Harbaugh was still in play for Denver in terms of its head-coaching search.
Well, according to what Schefter said on Monday night, Michigan football fans don’t need to worry anymore about Jim Harbaugh and the Broncos.
According to Schefter, “I don’t believe Jim Harbaugh is a candidate anymore for the Denver Broncos.” That’s music to the ears of Michigan football fans.
More details from Schefter on Harbaugh’s meeting
While that does seem to be the end of it, Schefter did share more details with Pat McAfee.
"“They met with him again last week, again in Ann Arbor, on Monday,” Schefter said on The Pat McAfee Show. “The facts are the facts: they met again and I think — no deal materialized and both sides went their own way. Okay, but they hadn’t met in person. They just did a virtual call the first time. And so they wanted to meet in person, see what it was about and for whatever reason, they decided not to get it done. And so, I think Denver’s shown that it’s willing to swing big. I think it will continue to try to swing big. Whoever that is, we’ll see what they’re gonna do, Pat.”"
Whoever the Broncos hire, it doesn’t sound like it will be Jim Harbaugh. So for anyone worried, I think we can finally put the Harbaugh to NFL talk to bed.
These latest rumors might impact recruiting but I don’t think it will that much. This will all be over soon and once the NCAA allegations are settled, Harbaugh is expected to sign a new contract with Michigan.
That deal needs to get done as soon as possible and then the focus can shift to trying to win a national championship in 2023.
