Don’t be overconfident

This Michigan basketball team has proven it can play with just about anyone for stretches. It can also play down to anyone for stretches so this is far from a guarantee.

Michigan is actually the underdog tonight. Maryland is a solid team too and winning on the road in the Big Ten is never easy. Yes, the Terps are out-manned a little, but so what?

Scott is going to play. Plus Jahmir Young, Hakim Hart, and Donald Carey are all capable of getting hot. Along with Scott, Maryland has four players who average at least 1.1 3-point field goals per game.

The Terps played a really, really bad half against Michigan basketball. They fouled too much, had no answer for Dickinson, and were sloppy with the basketball. They also shot about as poorly as a team can shoot for a half.

That won’t happen again. Maryland will be motivated to prove that was a fluke and Michigan needs to be ready to match that intensity. The margin for error is basically nothing at this point and this is a game the Wolverines can’t afford to let slip away.

It’s a must-win and they need to treat it that way and forget all about 82-46.
