Rest assured, folks, Jim Harbaugh is back as Michigan football head coach and here’s what it means for recruiting going forward.

Monday afternoon, the University of Michigan President Santa Ono made the announcement: Jim Harbaugh was coming back.

We all remember what happened last year when it was February and seemed like a sure thing that Harbaugh would be coaching the Minnesota Vikings. It’s clear that he’s changed his approach to the NFL since we were able to avoid an identical fiasco.

I’m honestly surprised that Harbaugh decided when he did but in a great way. The NFL coaching carousel was just heating up.

With rumors that the Chargers job could open up and reports that the Saints wanted a first-round pick in return for Sean Payton’s coaching rights. Harbaugh was in a prime position to get an offer if he wanted one.

The timing of his decision gives me confidence in his future with Michigan football, and it could not have come at a better time.

The no-contact period for recruiting is coming to an end, and Michigan football will be able to pursue recruits at full strength, as opposed to about 10% strength a year ago…

Along with this, NIL is continuing to trend in the right direction. While we’re still awaiting the “big announcement”, Michigan is making significant progress.

President Santa Ono deserves tons of praise, as he has had a MASSIVE impact on this football program since stepping foot on campus. I believe he’s the reason we held on to Jim Harbaugh, and he’s a big reason why NIL is making progress.

Michigan football is in a great position for next year, but how about on the recruiting trail?
