3. Michigan has won six in a row over Northwestern

The maize and blue haven’t lost to the Wildcats since John Beilein was roaming the sidelines. February 6th, 2018 at Northwestern was the last time that Michigan fell to Northwestern. They beat them a week prior to that loss and made it all the way to the national championship game during that special season.

The Cats always play Michigan to the limit. In that six-game win streak, two games were just two-point wins for Michigan basketball, while the other ones were blowouts and one matchup was postponed due to covid. Northwestern has already won at Illinois and Indiana, to go along with that win in East Lansing. So this is a quality win for Michigan.

Now Michigan has to find a way to win away from Crisler. Thursday will be their next meeting to do so. Hunter Dickinson’s favorite opponent is on deck in Maryland.

The Terps will want to prove that the first go around on new year’s day was a fluke and try to keep him from going off again against his hometown squad.

The Wolverines will get a rematch with Northwestern to open up in February in Evanston. For the moment Michigan’s tournament chances remain slim at best.
