3 things we learned from Michigan Basketball loss to Iowa
The Wolverines’ record doesn’t match the talent
Michigan basketball was ranked as a top-25 team to start the season and the Wolverines should be a top-25 squad. Hunter Dickinson is an All-American and Jett Howard looks like a lottery pick.
Kobe Bufkin has also taken a huge step forward. He had a rough few minutes Thursday night late in the second half and overtime, but his leap has been everything I expected and more.
Joey Baker has been inconsistent — so has Terrance Williams and for that matter, Dug McDaniel, yet it still doesn’t explain the 9-7 record.
Michigan has two legit NBA-caliber players and is staring an NIT bid straight in the face. Last year it had three NBA players and barely squeaked in.
The Wolverines were a No. 1 overall seed two years ago and while the talent dropoff doesn’t exist, this is the second straight year where the wins haven’t met the talent of the roster.
And the biggest reason why for this team is an inability to win close games, which goes to the next lesson.
