Michigan Football: 3 Transfers That Will Make the Biggest Impact
1. Ernest Hausmann
While former Jackson State athlete Travis Hunter took the title of #1 player in the portal, Ernest Hausmann remains one of the best transfers in the class and will be immensely valuable to the Michigan defense.
In his one and only season at Nebraska, played in every game and recorded 54 tackles, including two tackles for loss and a sack. His best game, fittingly, came against Michigan, where he recorded 10 tackles and one sack. It’s not every day a true freshman records that type of production, especially in the Big 10. Now, the Wolverines will be getting a guy with both a solid amount of experience and three years of eligibility remaining.
The linebacker was a bit of a depth issue for Michigan football this season. Nikhai Hill-Green was injured, making guys like Kalel Mullings, Michael Barrett, and Jimmy Rolder step up. There’s a chance that the entire group comes back next year.
While this means the competition to start alongside Junior Colson will be stiff, nobody had as much production or snaps last year as Hausmann. He’ll be the favorite to win the job and will be another key piece in what figures to be another great Michigan defense.
