Michigan Football: 3 Transfers That Will Make the Biggest Impact
2. Josaiah Stewart
Devante Jones brought in a lot of hype after transferring from Coastal Carolina but didn’t always look the part for the basketball team. Josaiah Stewart, the newest Chanticleer-turned-Wolverine, will look to perform differently.
The 6’2”, 235 lb defensive end looks to join a long line of Michigan football EDGE players that have dominated the collegiate ranks and gone on to the NFL. In Stewart’s two years at Coastal Carolina, he tallied 18 sacks and 25.5 tackles for loss, earning him multiple All-Sunbelt selections and being named to the freshman All-American team in 2021. He now has two years of eligibility remaining to spend with the Wolverines.
Despite Michigan football losing Mike Morris and likely Taylor Upshaw as well, they’re pretty deep at the EDGE spot next year. Eyabi Okie and Braden McGregor are both looking to return, and are poised to put up great seasons. Derrick Moore and Jaylen Harrell will both be getting significant playing time as well.
But Stewart has shown he’s capable of big things and could crack this group in a big way. His development over the summer, specifically with Ben Herbert getting his weight up, will dictate just how much action he sees on the field, but he could really become a big name on the Michigan defense.
