If Michigan football is lucky, Jim Harbaugh will coach the Wolverines for the rest of his career and it’s time to sign the head coach to a brand new deal.

Jim Harbaugh is one of the best coaches in college football and it’s time he’s paid like it.

Michigan football has been on an incredible run over the past two seasons. The Wolverines have won 25 of their last 27 games and won back-to-back Big Ten championships.

Michigan has won three straight rivalry games (Ohio State and Michigan State) as well as two in a row over Penn State. In short, Harbaugh has been on a roll and the Wolverines will play next Saturday for a berth in the national championship game.

The list of achievements can go on and on. Michigan football just won for the first time in Columbus since 2000 and started 13-0 for the first time ever.

It’s been incredible to watch and the transformation is shorting short of spectacular. People wanted Harbaugh fired two years ago. Now, it’s time to lock him up long-term.

Harbaugh did sign a new deal last year and he got a pay boost after taking a pay cut following the 2020 season and the 2-4 record.

But it’s time to make sure that there’s no mistake about how much Michigan values its head coach. When guys win, they need to be rewarded especially when coaches like Matt Rhule, James Franklin, and Mel Tucker are all making what they are.

Harbaugh might not need a $100 million deal or anything of the sort, but a long-term deal would be the best way to ward off NFL teams and to show Harbaugh what he means to the University of Michigan.

Changes need to happen with NIL and according to Chris Balas, there will be work on a new contract with Harbaugh, probably after the season.

So outside of beating TCU and winning the national title (also maybe the return of Blake Corum), the No. 1 item on the wishlist for Michigan football fans should be a long-term deal for Jim Harbaugh.

Next. 3 recruits that'll make an immediate impact. dark

That will make sure this insane run of success continues for a long time to come.
