2. Cole Cabana

I believe it is in Blake Corum’s best professional interest to go to the NFL after this season. This leaves a backfield of Donovan Edwards, C.J. Stokes, and Kalel Mullings.

Edwards is, well, Edwards, but I foresee the staff not wanting to give him the 30 carries per game they gave Corum. Stokes isn’t bad, but might not be worthy of 15-20 carries per game yet. Mullings can be a great short-yardage back similar to Ben Mason. However, that comes with being very situational and isn’t a multiple down back.

This means carries will be available. And who better to give them to than Cole Cabana? The Dexter product will be enrolling early and practicing with the team not only in the spring but in their preparation for the Fiesta Bowl against TCU.

On paper, he’s the fastest runner Michigan has seen since Denard Robinson and will add even more juice to the Michigan football backfield.

While this leaves Michigan without a guy who can be a consistent power back, his explosiveness and speed can make up for it. Assuming Corum has played his last snap in the maize and blue, I expect Cabana to see plenty of time on the field in the fall.
