It was a good day for the Wolverines on Tuesday as Michigan football landed two more transfers and the Michigan women’s basketball team dominated UNC.

It’s Early National Signing Day, Michigan football fans! That’s always an exciting time and the Wolverines are expected to add 20-some players to the roster on Wednesday.

You can follow all the action here on our live tracker. Michigan football is expected to land a couple of commitments on signing day as we wait for announcements from Jyaire Hill and Karmello English.

However, prior to signing day, Michigan football was busy in the transfer portal once again. The Wolverines announced two former Big Ten transfers on Tuesday — both from Indiana.

The first was former four-star quarterback Jack Tuttle. The experienced passer played for Indiana for the past four seasons and saw limited time as a backup. That will be his role in Ann Arbor and after the departures of Cade McNamara and Alan Bowman, it will be good to add a veteran.

Tuttle has attempted 182-career passes for the Hoosiers and has five touchdowns. He’s not going to push for the starting job but will provide another option at No. 2. Davis Warren is also going to be in the mix along with Jayden Denegal and Alex Orji.

The Wolverines also landed a former teammate of Tuttle’s in AJ Barner who is a 6-foot-6 tight end ranked 37th in the 247 sports transfer portal rankings (4-star).

Barner should be a perfect fit for the Wolverines as a tight end and caught 28 passes for 199 yards and three touchdowns this past season. The team captain in 2022 for the Hoosiers caught 14 for 162 in 2021.

Barner will definitely help replace the loss of Erick All and should form one of the best tight-end combos in the Big Ten and all of college football with Colston Loveland.

Michigan women’s basketball with a statement win

For the second time this season, the Michigan women’s basketball team knocked off a ranked opponent, and Tuesday night was impressive as the Wolverines scored 35 points in the first quarter and cruised to an 85-76 win over sixth-ranked North Carolina.

The two teams played in Charlotte as part of the Jumpman Invitational. The Michigan women’s basketball team and the men will play UNC on back-to-back nights. The Michigan men’s basketball team also tips off at 7 PM EST tonight against the Tar Heels in what feels like a must-win.

Leigha Brown was spectacular for the Wolverines on Tuesday as she finished with 25 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. She also knocked down 3-of-7 3-point attempts.

Laila Phelia played 38 minutes and scored 20 points on 7-of-17 shooting which included a corner trey. Emily Kiser was solid with nine points, six rebounds, and five assists.

The Wolverines are now 11-1 on the season and will take on Nebraska (Dec. 28) on the road in their second Big Ten game which is going to be a challenge. But coming next week, the Wolverines, currently ranked 19th, should see themselves move up in the AP Top 25.
