Michigan football is expected to sign a top-20 recruiting class on Early National Signing Day. Keep up to date with all the signings, flips, and more.ย

Early National Signing Day for the 2023 recruiting class is finally upon us. Michigan football has 21 verbal commitments coming into the day and is hoping for more.

All 21 of those guys are expected to sign and the additions have already started for the Wolverines. However, there are a couple of announcements to watch later in the day with Jyaire Hill, a four-star cornerback that will decide this afternoon.

Karmello English, a top-200 wideout in the 247 sports composite rankings for 2023, is announcing and the 5-foot-11, 175-pound target out of Alabama seems poised to pick the Wolverines after a trend of crystal ball projections and expert picks.

Hill is also expected to choose the Wolverines despite leaving them out of his top five the other day, which looks more like a head fake to other schools/reporters.

At any rate, it will all get sorted out on Early National Signing Day, and hereโ€™s our tracker to keep you up to date on all the latest happenings.

UPDATE: Michigan has signed all of its commitments. The Wolverines are now just waiting on the decision of Jyaire Hill, but so far, the only surprise has been a good one.ย

Early National Signing Day Analysis for Michigan Football

So far things have gone as expected for Michigan football. The Wolverines have already accepted letters of intent from about 1/3 of their class.

The drama centers around Hill and English. There are some rumors of other flips (positive stuff) but you never really know what to believe on signing day.

Adding a top-200 wide receiver and cornerback would make this the third straight Early National Signing Day with fireworks for the Wolverines.

While this class has a lot of talent and upside, there arenโ€™t a ton of highly-ranked players and that seems in large part due to NIL. Weโ€™ll see how that impacts the 2024 class, but it definitely caused Michigan footballโ€™s final class ranking to be lower than it should have been based on recent success.

One notable thing from the announcements is thatย Breeon Ishmail was announced as an EDGE. The 6-foot-4 linebacker was listed as a linebacker by the recruiting services, but heโ€™s got the body of a pass rusher and thatโ€™s where the Wolverines will use him.
