The running game will be key on both sides of the ball

TCU deserves to be in this game, but the offense carried the defense for much of the season and the Horned Frogs allow 25 points per game which ranks 58th in the FBS.

Michigan football allowed 25 points in a single game just once this season. TCU does take the ball away about 1.5 times per game but few teams are better at taking care of the ball than Michigan which has just seven giveaways in 13 wins.

Another weakness of TCU is the run defense. The Horned Frogs allow 4.1 yards per carry and Michigan football should be licking its chops. There aren’t any offensive lines in the Big 12 or anywhere in college football, quite like Michigan’s and the Horned Frogs struggled to hold against Kansas State.

However, TCU has a stellar run game in its own right. The Horned Frogs average 5.1 yards per attempt and in addition to Duggan, who is dangerous, Kendre Miller has been exceptional with 6.2 yards per carry, 17 touchdowns, and over 1,300 rushing yards.

TCU averages 200 yards per game on the ground and allows 148. Michigan’s defense has been stellar against the run and if the Wolverines can win the battle of rushing yards, they should win the game. The same can be said for TCU and there’s no doubt the running battle will be huge.
