The run game still won’t be the same

I’m excited to see what Donovan Edwards can do, but let’s remember that he’s not 100 percent either. There’s a reason Stokes was getting early carries against Ohio State. He just didn’t have the patience or poise quite yet.

Edwards struggled to get things going in the first half but started to find some room in the second half before breaking off two long runs to break the spirit of Ohio State.

Purdue is ranked ninth in the Big Ten in rushing yards allowed, so this is a good matchup for Michigan football. Purdue isn’t a pushover though. I think sort of like the Ohio State game, Purdue will have some success stopping the run in the first half.

Michigan’s offensive line is the best in the country and Edwards, even with one hand or arm or whatever, is still better than 99 percent of the running backs out, so I think the running game is going to be fine.

I don’t think we’ll see any 50-yard touchdown runs this week. Edwards will rip off a couple of explosive runs, McCarthy will get one too and Michigan gets over 200 total.

Most of the yards will come in the second half though, that’s my prediction.
