Michigan Football: Top 5 plays from win over Ohio State
#3: Cornelius Johnson Houses a 69-Yard Touchdown to Tie The Game
It was the second quarter, and Michigan’s offense looked out of sync without Blake Corum. The defense was holding up, keeping it a 10-3 game.
But things weren’t looking great. Facing a critical 3rd down, Ohio State sent the house on a blitz, and J.J. McCarthy barely got the ball out to Cornelius Johnson.
Johnson not only made the grab but made a nice play and shook off two Buckeye defenders en route to a 69-yard lightning strike to tie the game.
The Shoe was silenced. Ohio State had been in the driver’s seat and had a chance to force a big three-and-out. Instead, the game was tied. It cannot be stressed enough how much Michigan needed that touchdown.
Things were on the verge of getting ugly. If Ohio State gets a stop on that play, they have the momentum and a chance to go up 17-3.
Instead, the air was taken out of their tires a bit. Oh, and Michigan was not down 14, but tied. Michigan football does not win the game without a score on that drive, and maybe not even without a score on that play.
