2. Next Saturday is the formal Big Ten championship game

With all due respect to the Purdue Boilermakers, Saturday was the de facto Big Ten championship in the eyes of many. That makes this one an overreaction. Michigan football and Ohio State were the two teams who are head and shoulders above the rest in the Big Ten in 2022. That’s not up for debate, no matter what anyone tells you.

The Big Ten East and West are not equal. Three schools in the East could have won the West if the roles were reversed. With USC and UCLA on their way to the Big Ten, commissioner Kevin Warren will have a lot on his plate when it comes to a possible rearrangement of both divisions to make things more formidable.

The last time these two met was in 2017 in West Lafayette. Michigan won 28-10 behind the arm of John O’ Korn. He filled in for Wilton Speight who got injured on that day. It was a typical Jim Harbaugh-coached win with a tenacious defensive effort and controlling the pace of things with the run aspect on offense.
