These are three of the most absurd overreactions from the first win in the horseshoe since the turn of the new millennium for the winged helmets.

The Wolverines marched into Columbus and proved that the Ohio State Buckeyes are not invincible for the second time in as many chances. The offense came alive with explosive plays and the defense did a more than a commendable job to keep the Buckeyes out of the endzone and out of rhythm after leading at halftime.

Here are the three overreactions.

1. J.J. McCarthy still only completed 50% of his passes

Who cares! This is an overreaction that not a single Michigan soul could care about right now. They just beat the Buckeyes in the shoe for the first time in over two decades. That’s the real stat that matters the most. McCarthy made the throws when the pressure was on and beating Ohio State in the shoe will make him a Michigan legend for life.

Three touchdown passes on 12 completions. That’s only 25%, but boy did they loom large. Two of those went to Cornelius Johnson, who turned out to be the unsung hero on offense. Four grabs for 160 yards and two scores. That will go down in history as one of the most epic performances from an unexpected wide receiver in the game’s history for the maize and blue.

McCarthy shouldn’t have to do that much in the Big Ten championship matchup with Purdue. The game plan will rely on the run, as expected, with everyone, except Blake Corum, if I had to guess. However it wouldn’t hurt for him and his pass catchers to keep working on their chemistry for the playoff later in the month, as long as they win.
