4. Tommy Eichenberg

Every defense has its leader, and Ohio State’s leader is linebacker Tommy Eighenberg. The senior captain has anchored the Buckeyes, leading the team by a landslide in tackles with 105. He also has 2.5 sacks and an interception on the year that he took to the house.

He was a pretty big part of last year’s Ohio State defense, but with 64 tackles, he didn’t have nearly as big of a role. The senior has stepped up immensely in Jim Knowles’ defense and looks to play a big role in stopping the Wolverines.

Eichenberg will primarily be matched up with Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards tomorrow. Given how big those two are for Michigan football’s offense, Eichenberg could be the most impactful guy on the Ohio State defense.

Michigan will likely target him in the passing game with Edwards if they continuously get that matchup. If he plays up to the challenge, it will go a long way in shutting the Wolverine attack down.

5. Noah Ruggles

Where Michigan has Jake Moody, and Ohio State has Noah Ruggles. He hasn’t been as good as Moody this year, as he is not a Groza Award semifinalist.

However, Ruggles was right with Moody as a finalist for the award last year. On the season he’s 12-14 on field goals and hasn’t missed from 40-49 yards. He has missed an extra point though and stands at 67-68 on the season.

In a game that looks to be driven by offense, the kickers could have a huge impact. Ruggles could be put in some high-pressure situations, and how he fares could prove to be monumental to how this game turns out. The matchup between him and Moody will be one to follow very closely.
