Michigan Football: Five questions for Wolverines in The Game
Can Michigan limit Ohio State’s dynamic duo at WR?
I don’t expect Michigan to shut down Ohio State’s wide receivers. Nobody has been able to do that, and nobody will be able to do that.
The thing that Michigan can do though, is limit Ohio State’s explosive plays and tackle in space.
Michigan did an excellent job of this last year, as there weren’t any 40+ yard passing plays or long 50+ yard wide-open touchdown passes.
I expect Michigan to use a similar defensive game plan to last year. They will play two safeties deep at all times and make Ohio State drive the length of the field to score touchdowns.
Michigan just has to keep everything in front of them. The Wolverines need to communicate their butts off, make sure that everyone is on the same page at all times, and use sound technique and fundamentals.
I expect Michigan football to double-team Marvin Harrison Jr. and use bracket coverage on Emeka Egbuka, and, as mentioned, it will be mightily important to communicate and use proper technique.
I expect Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka to make some contested catches because Ohio State’s receivers are some of the best at 50/50 balls, but, if Michigan can limit it to 1-2 times at most, that’ll bode well for the game.
