3. Arizona State is on deck for the bragging rights to a title

The Sun Devils snuck by VCU in the second matchup at the Legends classic. Michigan basketball transfer Frankie Collins was their leading scorer with 15. He’s gotten off to a nice start to begin the 2022-23 campaign. He’s averaging about 16 per game and shooting better than he was when he was in Ann Arbor last season.

ASU lost on Sunday to Texas Southern in a stunning upset by one in overtime. Michigan will undoubtedly focus on that film to see how the Tigers were so successful at beating the Sun Devils and knocking them from the unbeaten. The Wolverines will be the favorite to hoist up the trophy when the final buzzer sounds in the Barclays Center.

Winning early-season games on neutral courts like this one will come a long way when it comes to March. It could also mean that the maize and blue go into the ACC/Big Ten challenge undefeated at 6-0 when they go head-to-head with Virginia.

Next. Gut reactions to win over Pittsburgh. dark

By no means will Michigan be looking ahead though as they realize how important this one is with Arizona State to bring home a trophy to Ann Arbor.
