2. Pitt is going to be atrocious

The Panthers have been absolutely destroyed in their last two meetings. A 25-point no-show versus their longtime rival West Virginia followed by this letdown. They get VCU in the consolation game and will most certainly be the underdog. Jeff Capel has a lot of work to do between now and March to get his group to play better and try to improve.

In its two losses the Panthers are shooting around 25% from three and have 32 turnovers as well. They got next to nothing from their backups in the Barclays affair and much of the same occurred last Friday evening in the loss to its backyard brawl brethren. Coach Capel may have to be forced to go back to the basics to attempt to get his men to compete at a higher level.

Michigan basketball owned the paint as that’s where they made their hay on the night. Pitt’s defense has been lousy, to say the least.

They’ve been outscored 172-116 over these two beatdowns. Getting John Hugley IV back in the lineup, in the loss was a step in the right direction, but the entire Panther squad still has a ton of work to accomplish.
