One goal achieved as a historic run continues

Michigan football is going through one of the best runs in school history right now. U-M has won 22 of its last 24 games and in the Big Ten conference, the Wolverines have won 16 of 17.

That’s dominance, so don’t take it for granted.

The win over Nebraska also achieved a goal of sorts. It wasn’t a goal put out by the team, but the win over Nebraska ensured that the Ohio State game will be for the Big Ten East title.

That should be the goal at the beginning of every season. Make that final game against Ohio State for the division title. Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines did that in 2016, 2018, 2021, and now 2022. U-M also had a shot going into the final weekend in 2015.

The rivalry is back to deciding the Big Ten championship and that’s where it should be. The true goal is to win the Big Ten title but Michigan needed to get to the Ohio State game at 11-0 or 10-1.

Now they have done that and regardless of what happens next week, Michigan football will go to Columbus controlling its destiny for the Big Ten championship.
