Michigan Basketball: 3 takeaways from a contested win over EMU

3. Terrance Williams was a lifesaver for the Wolverines
Jett Howard did not have an impactful game as he did in the exhibition and a season-opening win over Purdue Fort Wayne.
Therefore someone else had to man up and be the second fiddle behind Hunter Dickinson and that man was Terrance Williams. He rarely had to do it last year, but this time around is a different story with him being called upon as a starter for coach Howard and company.
He had a double-double, which happened to be the first in his career. Williams was an instrumental cog in the offensive attack that brought them to their most points scored since December of 2021. An affair in which Williams also hit three triples and netted a career-high of 22 points in a lopsided win at Nebraska.
When Williams plays like this, Michigan will be tough to beat. He’s not thought of as a serious threat the way that Dickinson and Jett Howard are, so the more that you can get out of him is a pleasant delight to the rest of the team.
Jaelin Llewellyn was the only other scorer to notch double digits on the night for the victorious maize and blue. Michigan will face Pitt in the Barclays Center on Wednesday in the annual Legends classic, a preseason tournament that they are poised to capture.
