Defense: A+

Blocking a punt and running it back for a touchdown is always going to make the point production look better than it is. However, the Wolverines were absolutely dominant on the defensive side of the ball.

Michigan gave up a couple of deep passes. Rutgers quarterback Gavin Wimsatt is a talented dude. Sean Clifford got lucky a couple of times too but that’s not a reliable way to move the ball against Michigan and the Wolverines at the QBs lunch in the second half.

After forcing a three-and-out, Michigan football intercepted him three straight times. The Wolverines haven’t gotten enough interceptions this season but now have four in the past two games. Michael Barrett even scored on one and at that point, the game was over.

Mike Morris added another sack. Kris Jenkins, who has been spectacular, added 1.5, while Junior Colson had some good moments. Rutgers had 18 rushing yards on 19 attempts.

More impressively, the Wolverines have allowed just three points in the second half of the last three games. That’s pretty incredible and a good sign heading into the stretch run.
