5 bold predictions for Michigan Football vs Michigan State
We are closing in on Michigan football vs Michigan State and after a year of waiting, here are five bold predictions for the Wolverines and Spartans.
Every Michigan football fan has had the Michigan State game marked on their calendar since last season’s loss in East Lansing.
This game tends to be around Halloween and it’s always spooky for the Wolverines, who are 3-4 against the Spartans under Jim Harbaugh and 0-2 against Mel Tucker.
Michigan State comes into this game with a 3-4 record. It’s been a struggle at times and all three losses have come by double digits. The Spartans rallied to beat Wisconsin in overtime two weeks ago and Michigan football always gets the Spartans’ best shot.
To put it simply, one win over Michigan and the Spartans’ season will be saved. All of the heat on Mel Tucker will instantly go away and all the jokes about his buyout will be silenced.
This game is equally important for Jim Harbaugh. He said this week how much he wants to win this game and we’ll see how it all plays out.
Here are my bold predictions.
Jim Harbaugh and Michigan will run the ball for over 200 yards
People have talked about Michigan opening up the offense this week and I do think they will take some shots, but Jim Harbaugh isn’t going to go away from what works.
Michigan football bullied Penn State and almost everyone that watched it walked away saying the Wolverines had the best offensive line in the country.
Followers of this rivalry know that the team with more rushing yards almost always wins and that’s been the case in the first two games of the Tucker-Harbaugh rivalry, one that I have a feeling is going to last for a while.
Blake Corum is Michigan’s best player and a few of its offensive linemen, as well as Donovan Edwards, aren’t far behind.
This isn’t going to be like the Penn State game. I think Michigan will find a way to have more success throwing and I don’t see the time of possession being as slanted.
That being said, Blake Corum will get over 120 yards for the fifth straight Big Ten game and Donovan Edwards won’t be hard behind. Throw in some runs from J.J. McCarthy and maybe A.J. Henning on one of those end-arounds and U-M will hit 200 yards, at least.
