Michigan football fans are used to seeing Aidan Hutchinson torment offensive players and on Sunday, he ended a sack drought against the Dallas Cowboys.

It was a dream come true for Michigan football fans that are also fans of the Lions, when Aidan Hutchinson went 2nd overall to Detroit.

Detroit needed a pass rusher and a face for their franchise and Hutchinson definitely seems like the guy to be that. So far, his rookie season has been a little up and down.

Hutchinson does have three sacks entering Week 7 of the NFL season but all three of those came in the same game and while that’s impressive, you can’t blame fans and pundits for wanting more from the No. 2 overall pick.

It doesn’t help that Detroit has struggled and lost in some ugly ways this season, such as the loss to the Vikings, when the defense couldn’t hold late.

The bye week seemed to help Hutch

Detroit is 1-4 and was off last week for its bye week. It seems as though Hutchinson spent that time wisely though, because in the first quarter against the Dallas Cowboys, Dak Prescott, just returning from injury, was sacked by Hutchinson, one-handedly.

Michigan football fans have seen the patented dip move before. This time, the tackle had it blocked fairly well, except Hutchinson was able to reach an arm out and grab Prescott, dragging him to the ground for his fourth sack of the season for Detroit.

Hopefully, the Lions can pull out a win on Sunday, but either way, it’s good to see Hutchinson being productive. Yet, people do need to remember that it takes time to learn how to beat NFL tackles.

Rashan Gary needed until his second or third season before he became one of the league’s most dominant and consistent pass rushers. You can’t just win with size and speed anymore.

Those things help, but the opponents are some of the best blockers in the world so it takes a little time. Yet, it was good to see Hutchinson come off the bye week making an impact and I’d love to see it continue going forward.
