2. Michigan’s pass rush is still something to worry about

This one is a slight overreaction because the group didn’t show up until they needed to, but when they did, they got the job done. It took two full quarters for the Wolverines to record their first tackle for loss in the backfield on Spencer Petras. Mason Graham was the very man to accomplish that hard-working feat.

There was cause for concern a few weeks ago because they couldn’t get any pressure on UConn. The Huskies did have a plan to get the ball out of the quarterback’s hands quickly with three-step drops and bubble screens. Iowa doesn’t have that in their offensive scheme and Petras is not a mobile quarterback either.

The emergence of Eyabi Okie has been a godsend for Jesse Minter’s defense. A lot was put on these guys to try and replicate what they did a season ago.

Realistically no one should have expected the same results from then, but this year’s version is doing about as a commendable job so far as you could conceivably ask for.
