Eyabi Okie

We have seen the ability flashed by former five-star Eybai Okie. He got a sack in his first snap as a Wolverine and made a real impact last week against Maryland down the stretch.

Harbaugh made it clear that Okie is going to get more snaps. Also, the pass rush needs to improve and it does. Okie is going to help with that and I hope we do actually see him on the field more.

It’s clear to me that he’s Michigan’s most talented edge rusher, purely from a physical standpoint. Derrick Moore is right there. Mike Morris is coming on too and he’s also a good interior rusher. Not to mention Jaylen Harrell and Braiden McGregor.

The interior pass rush needs to improve too and so far, it’s been a little disappointing. Getting after Spencer Petras is going to be huge though and this feels like a game where Okie could really start to establish himself.

Last week against Maryland, you had to worry about the QB running. This week, that’s not a concern. Petras is a statue and I expect Michigan’s pass rush to tee off.

That’s assuming Iowa’s run game is held in check. But if the Wolverines can Iowa into third and long, you can bet Okie will be on the field and my guess is he gets at least one sack.
