Take points when you can get them

You may have noticed a trend in this week’s keys to winning. What’s that trend?

Somewhat say playing conservative. I would argue it’s playing smart.

There are always times in a game when you should go for it on fourth down without question; on the goal line, inside the 45yd line from your side of the 50, when the game is on the line and you’re trailing, etc.

But there are times you shouldn’t. And this week needs to be one of those game plans that focuses less on aggression, but more on taking points when they are there.

I said it before and I will say it again: Iowa does not have the talent to hang on offense. But if you keep passing up field goal opportunities in search of touchdowns they can make things REAL uncomfortable for you.

Michigan football has one of the nation’s best kickers in Jake Moody. Use him as his weapon, and when you’re in field goal range, take the obvious points.
