Defense: B

Michigan football allowed 397 yards to Maryland and 265 of those came through the air. However, the defense forced two turnovers (special teams got the other on the opening kickoff) and notched three sacks.

The Wolverines got some good pressure late in the game. Derrick Moore and Eyabi Okie both saw more snaps near the end and made an impact. Jim Harbaugh also said both should see more snaps in the coming weeks.

Despite the three sacks, the pressure wasn’t good enough and it won’t be good enough against teams like Ohio State or even Iowa.

You can’t give you any college quarterback all day to throw. That’s recipe for disaster. On the bright side, the defensive backs were stellar and made two huge interceptions. DJ Turner was all over the place and RJ Moten also made a spectacular interception. Gemon Green was stingy too.

The run defense allowed 3.8 yards per carry and it was above average, yet it could be better and that’s how I feel about the entire defense. The effort wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t great either.
