The offensive delivered in a big way

When McCarthy struggled a little near the end of the first half, the Michigan coaches did exactly what they should have done and put the game in the hands of Corum and the O-line.

After running a lot of vanilla stuff and giving up a few too many sacks the past few weeks, the offensive line delivered in the Big Ten opener. It came through in some key short-yardage situations and executed the counter game to perfection.

McCarthy was sacked a couple of times but mostly, yet it was due to him holding onto the ball too long. He’s got to make quicker decisions and live to play for another down.

It was great to see the offensive line dominate though. Even with sacks included, Michigan football averaged 6.1 per carry and got 249 total yards.

The Wolverines led the Big Ten in rushing yards last season and it’s looking like that’s a distinct possibility this season as well. There were still some guys shuffling in and out on Saturday, but the offensive line is getting healthier and it answered some questions against Maryland.
